About
Carolyn Belanger, BscN, Alternative Healing Practitioner
Co-creative healing, the concept my business is named for, is a result of my experience exploring healthcare delivery and healing. My journey began in 2006 when I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta and started my career in emergency nursing. Three years later, I expanded my practice to remote First Nations communities across western Canada.
During this time, I observed the unique needs of individuals accessing the healthcare system: while many responded successfully to western medicine, others expressed the need for an alternative.
As a Métis woman, interest in traditional plant medicine led me to investigate a deeper understanding of health and healing. During my exploration, all over the world I encountered many teachers who fostered my intuitive development. I focused on holistic healing techniques and became attuned to the subtle balance of energy that constitutes the human being. As I learned, my role shifted from a practitioner who delivers healthcare, to one who enables and facilitates healing through co-creation.
I graduated with a diploma in Five Elements Acupressure from the Canadian Acupressure College in 2013. Since then I have also achieved multiple certifications in Cranio-Sacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute. While continuing to practice as a registered nurse, I have developed Co-Creative Healing to provide these alternative healing services to clients representing any age and circumstance.
I continue to pursue my own personal and professional development informed by Métis values, incorporating traditional worldviews into my healing practices. My life’s passion is to provide effective and informed healing for clients, facilitating their transformation from illness and injury to health and happiness, so that they may ultimately transcend to their greatest potential.
